The proposed measures under the bloc’s Digital Markets Act, or DMA, would give access to ranking, query, click and view data to enable third-party online search engines to “optimize their search services and contest Google Search’s position,” according to the Brussels-based commission. If adopted, they could entail opening up that data to Google’s biggest competitors in AI, such as OpenAI and Anthropic PBC.

Alphabet Inc.’s Google said its Gemini artificial intelligence assistant can now proactively tap into users’ data across Gmail, Search, Photos and YouTube, an attempt to make its consumer-facing AI product more personalized.

Google has made Personal Intelligence an opt-in experience, meaning users must choose to turn it on — and they can choose which apps are connected to Gemini. For example, you could set it up to ignore your search history but factor in your email, photo library and YouTube viewing history.

In India, almost all websites & apps, send a OTP to either mobile or email & ask you to enter that to login. Most of them have even disabled password based login flows. Really grinds my gears.

> What is their SEO dept doing to get ahead of Bloomberg in Google search results?

I thought ET/Hindustan Times etc showed up in Google Search results since I search from the region. But if they show up before Bloomberg/FT/WSJ etc for other regions too, then ET's SEO team is doing something terrific.

^ This.

You can read the reports at https://blume.vc/reports/indus-valley-annual-report-2025 or archives at https://www.indusvalleyreport.com/ .

The ppt in the blog is from the 2024 report - https://docsend.com/view/zqgfupfzyud499hn. The India 1-2-3 framework is old though. IIRC it was coined by a retail sector founder (Kishore Biyani) in the 2000s.

Also Koramangala, HSR layout are also the more affluent localities in Bengaluru.

They acknowledge the irony in the very next sentence:

"Matt Novak cautions against falling back into superstitious thinking in our praise of Demon Haunted World. After all, he says, “the ‘accuracy’ of predictions is often a Rorschach test” and “some of Sagan’s concerns” in other parts of the book “sound rather quaint.”"
