This doesn't work for me either. However, I am using the Vimium plugin for Chrome which may also cause issues.

I can pull doc strings in Vim by moving my cursor over a function and pressing K with fireplace.vim. I imagine Emacs has something similar. I get a list of functions with taglist.vim.

I use dsh for this: http://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/software/dsh.html.en

It's command line, but you can set up groups of servers and execute commands against all of the machines in a group at once.

This may not answer your entire question, but in the first pages of the book preview on Amazon: "He does not panhandle, and he often works--declining payment for his efforts."

Also: "And although he lives in a cave, he is not a hermit: he is relentlessly social, remains close with friends and family, and engages in discussions with strangers via the website he maintains from the public library."

I'd also install fail2ban. I looked at the auth logs for my DigitalOcean VM, and it's amazing how many bots/people try to log into it, even though it doesn't contain anything necessarily valuable.
