I've had a very similar experience, and have worked on a lot of React Native and Flutter projects over the years.
React Native (Expo specifically) or Flutter can be a good choice depending on your requirements and experience. I wouldn't let Dart put you off though, it's a decent language and easy to learn.

If you've got lots of solid React / JS experience in-house then you might have more luck with React Native (with Expo). Given a level playing field I'd be tempted to go the Flutter route really, especially if you want a more engaging UI.
