I think this, and other takedowns of a chemical hunger, focus too mch on the lithium part.

They did a very convincing job arguing that the issue is an environmental contaminant. That part is not refuted anywhere I know of.

Then they listed all environmental contaminants they could think of, and decided that out of that list, the most likely one was lithium. And the takedowns mostly show that it's probably not lithium.

But that just makes it likely that the actual contaminant is something unknown.

I feel that corporations are made of people in the same sense that computers are made of transistors...

I'm not sure if meant to ask if this project is an ai-recreation. I just wanted to say that the fheroes2 project is much older than that. I was playing with it during covid (if I remember right).

I suppose it's possible that they have changed development practices recently, but I think you can probably enjoy it without guilt if that worries you!

Are you talking about Norway, or some other place?

I was going to write a question asking if reduce is the thing I know as accumulate (I think I picked this up from SICP). But then I went to wikipedia, and it seems that an even more common name is fold.

Here's a hypothesis: The fact that the same operation has half a dozen different names makes it sound like there is a lot to learn. If I am totally familiar with fold, and i come upon a reduce, I may need to think more about what's going on, which is distracting.

I don't think map and filter have so many synonyms? I know select for filter, but it seems to me less common.

Strictly speaking it's based on AOSP. Which has Android in its name if you expand the acronym, but it's really not the same beast...

One way to detect mathematicians is that we say "[...], in particular, [...]". I guess it's our version of the economist thing!

When I started playing (2011-ish), I suppose I was the counterparty to your playstyle. But that was the appeal: Being in actual danger and at risk for loss. Even stuff like moving an industrial with goods from highsec to npc null to sell at a markup was an exhilerating adventure. And if there is risk, sometimes you lose.

I don't know how many people felt like I did, versus how many ragequit the game.

After some years I became a wormholer though, and finally a permanent -10 lowsec pirate in the end. It's been a decade since I quit now.

Learned a lot from that game.

That's the bizarre thing about this hn discussion... A lot of people referencing rooted phones, but to the best of my knowledge GrapheneOS is almost never rooted?

I think your latter comment is kind of analogous to people writing python (or any high-level language) without understanding assembly. I think maybe that reduces the mystery a bit?

One of the famous problems with df is that it's very much single threaded. At least the last time I checked, which is some years ago by now.

Besides that blocker, your idea sounds like a nice win.
