Amusing how similar our comments are :) though yours is better, I think.

> English verse rhymes

That is not universally true at all. For example, Milton's Paradise Lost, or much of Shakespeare. There are countless other examples of blank verse in English.

Can you elaborate? Sounds cool

Oh good, you responded! I'm aware roughly of the history of thorn, but I was specifically wondering about it being used only once rather than on all the instances of "th", or at least all the instances if "the".

Yeah. It's titled "a love song to nicotine" and 80+% of it is about the benefits of nicotine with a claim that "sublingual nicotine’s addictive potential feels low", but TFA links to the tacked-on twitter screenshots at the end. Not the point, but it does make one wonder. Though, to be fair, I only realised that the main body of the article existed when I accidentally scrolled back up "too far". Perhaps the author of TFA received the exact same link and made the same mistake as I initially did.

Not really relevant, but I have to ask: why did you only use letter þ once in your comment?

That's a good rule. I came across this article as I'm building a mallet at the moment (with a head made of a piece of old river red gum firewood, because I guess I love sharpening tools).

The mallet has shifted to be my current project because I need to source more materials for my workbench made of secondhand 2x4s.

The project where I actually make an end product is depending on the workbench, because building an instrument on my current crappy workbench sounds torturous.

Can't say I'm unhappy about any of this, though :)

Yeah apologies, bad wording on my part. I really just meant the removal of the opening line which made it clear that it was a correspondence: "I am happy to try and answer any questions you have."

And the "statement" in this article is the text from that email, disingenuously edited. I'm not sure why, but it rubs me the wrong way.

I think this changed recently, but at least prior to that, when not logged in, you only saw the initial post and none of the replies.

I believe HN does some automated editing of titles to avoid clickbaity titles being displayed. May be that.

RRR and PBS in Melbourne both stream online and are both fantastic for music discovery. Go the former if you lean indie and the latter if you lean international.
