> The point of H1B is that the talent is so rare and valuable that it can’t be found domestically. If you get fired or laid off, hate to say it but you weren’t valuable enough to keep around.

Since H1B visa holders possess valuable business skills that can’t be found domestically it makes sense to recruit them when they become available

Some companies extended severance as salary to allow the employee to stay in compliance for a couple of weeks and people would scramble to find any job

Has to have been brutal during the recessions

But it’s not brute force if it’s looking over everyone’s shoulder

Brute force would have been solving Navier-Stokes in 88 hours after plagiarizing all known 20th century math

When it needs to snoop live on what the actual mathematicians are working on that’s something else

This is the scary part - your most novel thoughts and breakthrough ideas being slurped up and regurgitated as if they were the AI’s creativity

Not only did they steal everything from humanity’s knowledge, the theft continues as now we are all hooked up to the machine

> There are thousands willing to do his role

1. Does that matter ? There are thousands willing to do my role - what impact does that have on me doing it or not?

2. Why weren’t these thousands doing it already?

Willing to and able to are different things

> I don’t think ai models come close to nuclear weapons or to run-of-the-mill, everyday carbon emissions in terms of danger to humanity.

Nuclear weapons don’t have AI but AI can have nuclear weapons

> Cannot win against Russia in the proxy war with Ukraine.

Ukraine existing even with Trump waging war against Iran negates this argument
