Anything image related is better interacted with a touchscreen. E.g, Professional photography, Medical imaging.

I had the same experience. You need both the trackpad and the touchscreen they are complementary and great for different use cases. I've always thought chromebook pixel was a product ahead of its time, and time is confirming it seeing how many later laptops (specially apple) has ended up adopting many of its features.

Probably a hot take reading the comments, but the touchscreen is great for scrolling and reading vs doing it in the trackpad. If you have the laptop in your lap, the hand and arm position to scroll in the trackpad is very unnatural. Reading/browsing using your thumbs on the screen borders is a great experience. This is even more noticeable if you try to work on planes.

This video makes a better job at explaining what it is about vs the marketing ones. Thanks for sharing.

Tell the washing machine. "Washlexa I'm putting my gym clothes in. It was a hard workout I sweated a lot!"

and the washer now knows what to do. No more temp, length, 2nd rinse proxy controls.

Likewise I bought the Chromebook Pixel LS and a Pixelbook during that dark period before M-series laptops and these laptops were awesome and IMO well ahead of their time. The ChromeOS with all its faults was a modern OS without legacy. For example the OS settings are closer to the Phone OS like settings vs MacOS settings that are still a mess these days.

Commenting just to appreciate this analysis. I totally bought the marketing that this was a small phone, while it seems it just had a small screen.

I don't know if it would come with the deal, but Bytedance web crawler is known to be the one with top number of requests per day among AI crawlers (src: https://blog.cloudflare.com/declaring-your-aindependence-blo... ) I guess one of Perplexity challenges is to have their own web index and of course that starts with having a powerful crawler. Also having a powerful crawler is useful for capturing tokens to train models. If that technology comes with the deal, it makes perfect sense for Perplexity to acquire them.

It is painful to read. To me in retrospective the major mistake in the presentation is that it barely talks about end users and how the iPhone enabled a new world of use cases. It is only about business/corporate, features and specs. When analyzing the iphone on those dimensions all the reactive action items are doomed. They had not a chance to compete with that analysis.
