I don't think this should be celebrated, even though they had a bad attitude.

We are losing communities and human communication to LLM chats.

What do you find interesting about ffmpeg and git ports? Why do you need to know about them? Porting them is trivial, but maintaining them is not, especially a better version. It's not rocket science. Everyone can prompt "rewrite it in Rust" and abandon the project in a few months. There is no novelty.

If there is something novel in the port, people usually write an article about that or at least mention it in the README.

The ones that I have seen were90% slop. Bitcoin in Rust, 10 new agents in Rust. Zero explanations on why a project exists and how it is better.

Reddit struggles with AI submissions, there were like 20 AI oss projects per day in /r/Rust at some point. Most of them are slop and it’s hard to find something valuable.

X uses recommendations, so you don’t see all the projects and small accounts. You consume curated content.

How? Compilators eliminate unused code.

I have been running my dev setup in orb machines before agents. Very convenient when you have 50 Python or nodes deps.

I've been using it since 2015

That's why I mentioned vendors. They patch it before announcements.

Also, sandboxing makes automatic exploitation harder. There is no FS persistence, so some checks simply do not pass.

This reminds me of the old days when PHP was such a vulnerable language.

By simply searching for websites that used local includes to load other pages, you could get RCE.

At this point, running webapps in JS workers/sandboxes sounds like a good idea. Vendors take care of patching.

In think in the future, they will charge users for posting anything more than x times a months.

Generating slop content is cheap now, but you need to store it and very few people will see it, so you can't show more ads.

They train on conversations which pull data from web.

I'm not sure you get my point. Just ask ChatGPT, "What are the top 10 xxx," and see which sources it cites. Oftentimes, it's complete garbage with LLM tells.

This is a known problem, when ChatGPT uses web search tool, top 10 results are often LLM generated sources as well.

They now train on their own content.
