Yes sorry, the project improved a lot since then, all the issues raised in that thread were addressed and several new features were added: we now support serving Cloud Storage backend (such as S3) over SFTP/SCP, multi factor authentication, virtual folders, several filters (for example on file extensions, on source ip address), external authentication, serving Git repos over SSH, per directory virtual permissions (not related to OS permissions) ecc..

SFTPGo supports virtual quota and bandwidth throttling too. I think they are hard to implement using OpenSSH.

For the next release I'm working on Git support so that you can host git repo over ssh with virtual accounts, quota, bandwidth throttling. I think this could be an interesting feature too

Events are now supported, you can configure custom system commands and/or HTTP notifications on SFTP upload, download, delete or rename

SFTPGo switched to viper for configuration so it now supports JSON, YAML, TOML, env vars ecc..

The configuration format it's a your choice
