Maybe a grey hat should scan for all the vulnerable servers they can find, exploit them, and then patch them.

I wonder why the physicists are the only group to not want the full information released upfront? As a casual fan of physics[0] it seems like their completion of the standard model is possibly the biggest deal of all these breakthroughs, am I wrong?

I always assume they are benchmaxxed until proven otherwise.

FYI, I've had no problem letting Claude code read iMessage and send iMessage from my Mac logged into iCloud. The first time you ask it to do that, macOS will throw up a security prompt asking for permission for Terminal.app to access the data, but its something I've been using a lot recently.

If done correctly, the agent will only be able to request that passwords be filled, but the secrets will only be handled by the password manager and browser extension, which will be able to set some security boundaries and make checks on which domains are allowed.

If your issue is allowing agents to use your credentials and take actions on your behalf, then that is a separate question.

I've been running most likely a proto version of this using Claude code and cron jobs to help me manage my online jewelry business. It's an idea that is pretty game changing, and really pay dividends if most of your business is handled online with APIs and web apps. Also, using the Claude in chrome extension greatly expands the possibilities of tasks you can hand off. I like my hacked together version, because Claude code uses locally stored memories, which I feel is important for me to remain in control of the situation and give me an easy ability to try other agents in the future.

I played this game a lot, and it was somewhat responsible for me learning the linux server environment. I scrounged together a computer from my friend's dad's old parts bin, installed ubuntu on it, and then built a BZFlag map and shared it with my friends. I still remember the feeling of seeing someone I didn't know joining my game.

I was also really hoping they’d release a completely redesigned Apple home app. The current one is simply not that good.

Yes, I am projecting out into the future, not talking about the current state. I said "might be the first".

> A band can be entirely findable in 2006 and entirely gone by 2026 depending on which technologies they happened to pick.

This is interesting, and in some cases desirable. I wonder what technology choices one could make today if they wanted to have an internet presence now but not have it stored forever. Would that even be possible today?

I am not so sure that's true. Even if AI intelligence were to plateau at today's levels, there are still many gains to be had in speeding up today's intelligences. ASICs with burned in weights could become economical to invest in as they would retain usefulness longer than 18 months, and I feel we have only scratched the surface on possible usecases of local AI and what it means for almost any technology product or interface.

It's been very interesting watching Tao's evolution on his thinking on LLMs. Of course the LLMs have themselves evolved so that shouldn't come as a surprise.

The job of professional mathematician might be the first to be completely eliminated by LLMs, save for those who can make money from a patron. I am hoping they are able to figure something out to save their profession, as other professions could use it as a blueprint as AI comes for them next.

You are conflating "important" with "good", which I don't think the author was intending.
