Founder of EmailFig here. I agree the raw sending is the cheap part.

Most of the work goes into reputation management and customer support and in my experience, most of the cost is marketing.

For raw sending there are plenty of cheaper options, as others have mentioned. SES, for example, charges ~$0.10 per 1,000.

In Canada, I've switched over to https://simpletax.ca. It's free, (supported by donations), and works well even for more complicated filings.

I've done Chefs Plate and Good Food here in Toronto, and while they are great, for people like me living in the city, the delivery is not the most convenient aspect.

My local Supermarket chain, could just put up a rack with meal kits, and destroy most of their market.

Thanks! I'm actively working on enhancing the feature set to match what MailChimp etc provide.

If you try it out and find something you need missing, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do!

From what I understand you need an API endpoint to unsubscribe users from your list.

Try out the service and drop me a line, I'm sure I can accommodate your use case :)

Haha, thanks. I've been growing pretty well organically, but still feel a little odd pitching my service online.

I should just set up a referral program myself and let others do it for me :p

shameless plug

I built SimplerSES for the same reason - a cheaper alternative to MailChimp using AWS SES. It's built as a hosted service so theres no server costs, and you only pay for the emails you send out.

http://simplerses.com - A hosted email solution and newsletter delivery tool powered by Amazon SES. Been working on it as a side project for a while. Trying to put more time over the weekends now that I have a few paying customers.

Some of the guys at the office here in Singapore felt the aftershock, but most people didn't notice.
