While the persons mentionned in the articles are indubitably most of the most well-informed people in the world. They are also the most likely to have internalized that their work is leading to superhuman intelligence/AGI. But is it really realistic ?

So they have a strong bias towards imagining the most catastrophic scenario.

With uBlock Origin no redirection, it's a fine article.

Gouvernement using social networks to fight or do foreign influence campaign is not exactly the same thing. This is covert propaganda, or the government targeting its own citizen, in a domestic influence campaign. Much more problematic in its concept.

On mobile it shows a zoomed in version of the image. It shows the small details even more. I was not really agreeing with the author on the superiority of Enlarger.

With the full images, the comparison is much more to the advantage of Enlarger.

Interesting but it feels like giving an agent the HTTP protocol documentation and a raw socket tool instead of curl, to make requests. Very wasteful in tokens and ultimately computation.

This is of course because we are limited to using agents interactively to avoid paying the API rates. An agent harness with this integrated would be much more efficient.

The comparison only starts to make sense in a post-work society where there is no working-class, whose existence depends on working.

Unfortunately these companies are working to eliminate jobs, but not in any way making a path for a transition to a post-work society.

Mozilla is a hot topic around here. The Mozilla Foundation recently made this survey, HN might be interested in telling what they think.

Mandating that the takedown go through this agency means states won't be able to hire private companies specialising in takedowns (and faster). Takedowns take way longer, which hurts the children.

I believe they are a for-profit company. You can also check their financial reports : https://tab.gladly.io/financials/2021-Q4.pdf

Only 30% goes to charity. They would not be well rated on Charity Navigator (if they were a nonprofit).

Also, the business model is displaying ads on the new tag page so you also give up your personal data.

All in all, I am not convinced.

This is a very common complaint on the internet, the introductory paragraphs of recipe blogs.

Yet, when I am looking for a recipe, I always look for the blogs. Why ? Because the alternative is a commercial website full of ads and trackers, trying to upsell me on paid features on every page.

Yes I have to scroll past an uninteresting paragraph, but it's much better than the alternative.

This new website might be more respectful of my privacy now, but it is yet to be seen what will change when/if they need to monetize it.
