Stripe launched its engineering hub in Dublin a few years ago and we now have more than a hundred engineers in Europe. We’re not just headquartered in America, but in Europe too—and this year we'll rapidly scale our engineering footprint in Europe.
We’re hiring in-office and remote employees in Ireland, the UK, Germany, and Sweden. (More countries soon! And if you're not in one of those countries, we support relocations.)

Knuth worked on ensuring that the max number of guesses never went above 5. I believe that it's an algorithm, but I haven't looked into this enough yet.
Another way to optimize is for the avg number of guesses. The algorithm for this approach is to choose your next guess based on the guess that will give you the maximum amount of information gain (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy_(information_theory)#D...).

I've been studying the game of hangman (somewhat obsessively) for the last 6 or so years. I only recently discovered this Knuth paper via An Optimal Mastermind (4,7) Strategy and
More Results in the Expected Case [1].
I think the reason it has captivated me for so long is because of the unexpected insight that choosing a known short-term failure or an increased chance of short-term failure (when optimizing for information gain) will result in quicker paths to your final goal AND decreased amounts of short-term failures.

Our agents closed $1.5 billion in sales using RealScout over the first 8 months of 2016, which is growing rapidly as we expand across the country.

We oftentimes pair program, hold hack days every other Friday, and maintain 85% test coverage in order to maximize learning as well as enable us to act quickly on those learnings.
We're open source across the stack - Ruby on Rails, Python (Caffe, TensorFlow, Pandas, Celery, etc), ReactJS, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, Redis and take time to give back to our community.
