This also happened to me. I interviewed someone from an IT staffing agency. Seemed perfect. A different person showed up for the job, and he knew next to nothing about IT.

https://www.weightwatchers.com works really well. I thought it was just a brand of frozen food, but it's not. You get a set number of "points" each day, which more or less equate to calories. It makes counting calories much, much easier. Worth a look.

Andronico's on Irving St in SF sells Amish butter in a giant roll. I've never tried it though.

Trying magnesium after reading about it on HN comments last year changed my life. Definitely try it. I just use magnesium citrate from Walgreens.

The best coffee substitute I've found is coffee-flavored Postum. It's the one in the red jar. Available from their website or Wal-Mart. I also tried Cafix, but prefer Postum.

This story and headline seems misleading at best, and fake news at worst.

This company sells ThinkPads with pre-installed Linux: https://shop.lacpdx.com/. Presumably they only sell models which work well under Linux.

I first read about magnesium supplements in a random Hacker News comment a year ago. Taking them cured my insomnia. If anyone thinks they might benefit from Mg, I definitely encourage you to do the research.

I struggled with insomnia for about 3 years before finding something which worked for me: magnesium supplements. Learned about them through a random Hacker News comment.

I take magnesium supplements to help with sleep. First read about it on Hacker News 6-12 months ago. Changed my life. My insomnia is not cured, but definitely much better and zero side effects. I tried many different sleeping pills, but they either made me too groggy the next morning or their efficacy lessened over time. Just Magnesium Citrate from Walgreens is what I use.

I wish the NY Times would get back to journalism and not try to boost their webviews with fluff pieces like this.

I agree. This sequence of courses is the best I've found.
