New gift for my SO unlocked. I’ve been getting into 40k minis recently and they helped me with a space marine, so maybe a Rolife set will push us both over the edge! Thanks for sharing!

I think there were big issues in my area because there are only two providers so congestion would peak in the evening from 4pm - 8pm. Netflix/Youtube would playback lower resolution and we’d be stuck with loading circles if we manually set it higher. If I remember correctly, that issue became less frequent before the switch, but I haven’t had the lower resolution issues since.

In metro Atlanta, just outside of city limits, I was desperate for fiber for a long time. Forced to watch other neighboring cities get Google Fiber at great monthly rates. I pay a bit more with AT&T now, but it’s so worth every penny between streaming, gaming, and personal projects.

I don’t think I’d equate a corporation downloading TBs of copyrighted works (with the intent of making a profit on stealing copyrighted works) and John downloading a few GBs of MP3s for personal consumption.

So they got fined for… stealing?

Also, if I clone Call of Duty, and use their skins, make a similar soundtrack, call my maps the same, then there will definitely be an issue.

I support the use of AI and all, but to hide behind transformative use of copyrighted intellectual property is a discredit to the colossal amount of human work and knowledge that these companies pirated and had their models trained on.

100k for entry level roles at one of the most recognizable brands of the world doesn’t seem too bad to me. Then again, I’ve never been to the Seattle/Washington area.

For a B level: > * You did not cause other people unreasonable amounts of work.*

I would be careful with this one. As the examples listed after, such as an on-call incident or extra review of code isn’t necessarily on the n00b. Maybe I’m biased being only 4 years into my career but engagement on stuff you did wrong or even points on what you can do better are extremely valuable. From my standpoint, screwing up isn’t a problem if you can engage with the team to recover and learn from it.

We need to remember there are going to be human admin tasks that still need human interaction and critical thought into what you read and write. Adult users of these tools already accept AI outputs without too much thought in varying scenarios.

As a child, your willingness to question a tool that’s already better then you at most tasks probably isn’t going too high, and if you go through early education without exercising critical thinking… well we can point to cursive reading/writing as an example of a skill that completely disappears from a generation when not practiced enough.

Wishing you peace during this time — and thank you for cherishing Kiki as much as you have. A memorial page is a nice way to honor her.

I don’t really know why this is getting downvoted. It’s clear that higher education is degrading because of easy to reach AI solutions that have no type of penalties for use.

During my undergrad it was normal to see people refer to Chegg solutions to get their answers, or as a friend for theirs.

Maybe there’s a reason my first CS professor wrote out Java code with pencil and paper I guess.

All because you’re being exploited doesn’t mean you can’t voice your want to change things.

Some of these workers might find that the only gig that they can rely on is ride share for various reasons.

They taught us to make Legobricks with CAD when I was in 6th. Wish I retained more of that and that it would be more widely taught.

They probably went into a stall (loss of lift) after collision. So they would have lost all control.

Their controls would probably feel all mushy and unresponsive at that point.

Social media companies are actors that actively compete for the attention of young people. That does result in collapsing third spaces and social events because it’s easier/cheaper to just post on IG or hang out on discord.
