I asked myself “which programming language do I actually like ?”
So: the same tasks written in 32 languages. You first pick which languages do you want to enter the tournament. Then they are randomly assigned to groups, then they fall into an upper and lower brackets, then a grand final. Matchmaking gives both languages the same task, avoids repeats within a cup, and rotates through tasks you haven’t seen.
The whole thing is a single HTML file (about 130 KB gzipped, all 960 snippets included) and progress saved in local storage.
If you want the over-the-top version and not well-tested 3D fighting-game arena with the same tournament: https://chalmovsky.com/prog-lang-cup/ I prefer the plain version though:D. You can also switch between the two mid tournament they both use the same data from the local storage.
It was written with AI, so if some code snippet isn’t idiomatic, please tell me (or send a PR, it’s MIT): https://github.com/chalmovsky/com/tree/main/prog-lang-cup
I’m collecting anonymous results (which language wins each duel) and will post the overall standings in a few weeks if there is some data :D.
I really enjoyed playing with this so I hope you will too!

one cherry on top is that all the agent harnesses installed with omarchy have the “yolo” mode on by default

As per usual, a very good and sane take indeed.

Come on now, what is this Monty Python?

yeah this feature works for me and its amazing! BUT one interesting caveat - it doesnt work when im in an electric car
And lol ... Can you imagine how savage this is, with Rich's disgust with ORM and entangled concepts and like the audience sits there with their ActiveRecord and 10 levels deep inheritance and rails 'easy way' of doing stuff. Probably was a bigger shocker than dHH's keynote this year. lol
