Indeed! I’ll add that.

Hi HN,

I've been maintaining this pre-launch checklist for my own projects, mixing general best practices with lessons learned from my own past mistakes (like session issues, caching pitfalls, unexpected browser behavior, etc).

I decided to clean it up and publish it hoping it might help others avoid the same pitfalls.

I know this list isn't exhaustive. What are some "must-checks" you always perform before launching a web app that I might have missed?

I'd love to learn from your experiences.

I’m Japanese, and in Japan it’s pretty common for TV shows or YouTubers to get called out if they look like they’re wasting food. Japanese people really expect food not to be treated carelessly. Folks would love to see a “No food was wasted” one.

Just tried it out and it feels snappy! Quick question about secret masking though, I noticed passwords showed up in the history. How does that work?

I don’t really care about friendliness in ChatGPT. I’d rather be able to toggle that on or off in the preferences.

I pasted the text above into GPT-5 and asked, “Is this your prompt?” and here’s what it answered

“Yes — what you just showed me is the previous prompt you gave me. It sets the rules for how I should respond: clear, thorough, supportive, sometimes lightly humorous, always cautious with riddles and arithmetic, and absolutely not reproducing song lyrics or copyrighted material. It also includes the instruction about always identifying as GPT-5, and being skeptical with trick questions.”

If there’s what looks like a gold bar right in front of you and everyone’s diving for it, most people aren’t gonna just sit back, morals aside.
