What kind of overhead does the Wasm approach add in terms of memory and cpu time? I also have way too many ESP32 boards lying around

In practice there is a donor class and constituent class who are largely not the same set of people. The point you’re missing is how the donor class is instrumental in influencing the actual language that goes into the laws, this happens peripheral to the democratic process. For example, a spending bill where the language favors one vendor over others because that vendor paid to submit their suggested language. This is not hypothetical btw.

This is way worse than PHP2Shell in scope of impact and its effects will stick around for much longer. Well, as long as the validity period of the compromised certs anyway

For large diffs, I’ll have the human driver walk me through the code in a call and if they understand it well enough to explain it to me, and explain the implications of the changes, that’s good enough for me; if they can’t answer how something works, I’ll respectfully turn down their contribution.

This cost shifting is how I stay sane and avoid burn out at work as well as stay apprised of major behavioral changes in the software we run.

I also think it’s important to emphasize that in an organization, individual productivity is secondary to group productivity, and group productivity is different than the sum of its parts.

> I obviously still have my iPhone and I sometimes take it on walks during the day if I want to have a productive walk, but it mostly stays plugged in in my drawer.

You and I have different definitions of a productive walk. To me a walk is productive if I get my heart beating fast. Bonus points if I see an unusual bird or insect.

> Writing a parser for a compiler? It used to be an endeavor that took several days, now an LLM will do it in 20 mins.

Heh this used to be an interview question I gave. You’d be surprised how far people would get in 30 minutes.

I don’t think I really understand the motivation to move as fast as possible. Who cares if you’re behind by 6 months? Objectively you’re still ahead of where you would be without the 6 months old tech.

I found the language to be difficult to read, there are phrases that don’t make sense in context. It’s not concise. I also don’t care whether it was written with AI or not, and there are plenty of terrible docs predating AI. However, I wouldn’t call this documentation “good”.

You don’t have to bet. A lot of proofs are like that.

You could also render the text inside a canvas in a web view, then you have a bit more control over the sampling. If you wanted to stick to a web view for some reason that is. Alternatively you could generate custom bitmap fonts on the fly based on the screen resolution.

It can simultaneously be true that agents exploited zero days in self-hosted Artifactory _and_ that there was a weak point in the design of the sandbox.

This is a reality for all software, there is always a possibility of exploit so you design your environments accordingly (e.g do not have single points of failure)

> The cost of innovation or "just" writing a new tool is plummeting fast.

Doesn’t this make it less profitable to be an R&D company, since there is less market share available?

Wouldn’t it be easier to just not use a monorepo?

That narrative is what the Justice Dept alleges, but it’s far from settled. Don’t be disingenuous.
