Wouldn’t this criteria make PS2 and Xbox “peak gaming” also? I remember playing CoD online on PS2 and many praising Xbox for its online features.

Once PS3 and Xbox 360 came in picture, things changed slightly since they relied more heavily on their network services… albeit, PSN back then was free for online gameplay. These were on the same generation as Wii, but Wii was a winner for casual playing.

Well, the author embodies the true spirit of Hacker News. Without people publishing their experiments or learned things, others wouldn’t learn or feel inspired to ~hack things together.

Crossplane allows engineers to write Kubernetes controllers without writing controllers (eg: via YAML). Most of the time it works well, but sometimes custom Golang is required so teams can implement a custom provider, which is what controls resources (eg: an instance of a bucket).

It is very similar to Kubernetes controllers development using kubebuilder, but different in many ways. I wrote all my learnings into this blog post which hopefully clarifies how they work, how to implement one and good practices around it.

100% with the author on that one, albeit the performance decay seems to depend on the type of task for me. Simple plumbing tasks seem to run okay with longer running contexts.

Also, some colleagues were playing around with RTK (https://github.com/rtk-ai/rtk), which decreases the amount of token used by tool calls and, although it seems an interesting idea, I am pretty sure there are many caveats. Although, I believe if these type of tools prove to be efficient enough, perhaps harnesses will have them natively.

I am curious why the author did not consider ConnectRPC (http://connectrpc.com/), which could be a great middle ground since it is compatible with both Protobuf and JSON served APIs. It is developed by Buf, which has been a leader Protobuf tooling.

Is it somehow related to GoReleaser? I saw GoReleaser supports multiple languages now as well

I thought you had mistyped template there but actually no, templ is some other package different from the stdlib one. I had a quick look on its documentation and it seems quite neat!

I was hoping that bud with svelte compilation would fill this gap, but looks like templ is a nicer alternative.

Hi, author here: please do have a look on the first part, in which I give a bit more context on some decisions I had to go through https://brunoluiz.net/blog/2022/nov/low-downtime-postgres-up...

Observe that we only went with the approach of cloning and doing some "hacky" stuff with the replication because our database was quite large. Small ones might be okay with only using the logical replication + COPY.

The method described might be applicable to other managed Postgres, but I haven't tried it out.
