By this article’s definition, any editorial - including TFA itself - is “deception”.

All documentaries editorialize. Saying so is neither particularly novel or interesting. The film also doesn’t attempt to render a guilty verdict - that was already done in a court of law and EH is in prison.

It’s fine to dislike the film, but the honest thing to do would just be to say so rather than to claim some kind of moral high ground.

Your point seems to reduce to “bad writing=bad thinking, better writing=better thinking” which to me seems to support the original point, not refute it.

Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it will be prosecuted, right? If I break into my friend’s house in the middle of the night and smash some stuff, and later we both acknowledge that it happened, that it was regrettable, but never press charges, then should state resources be tasked with justice?

Once companies start harming each other in undesirable ways, as opposed to proverbially toilet-papering each others’ lawns, meaningful prosecution will happen in earnest.

Even if you are not the one addicted, other people’s addiction problems are still your problems. Being blind to that fact makes you both complicit in it and vulnerable to it.

I agree, but being mildly offensive is kind of the point: makes it more memorable, and clearly differentiated from “popup” which is too broad and has many valid uses in an interface. Dickovers never have a valid reason to exist.

You seem to be under the impression that making services better or cheaper _for the consumer_ is the goal of any corporation. The goal is to make their own operations better and cheaper for them. They are laying off employees and adding features of questionable value as a pretext to raise prices. The playbook has not changed, it has only accelerated.
