Because it’s fun and not everything has to exist for a reason other than that maybe? I built something in the same vein, and the way is because it’s neat. It serves no real purpose.

Yes, that’s exactly what it is. On the other side of it though, so what, we get to look inside stuff with a cool scan. They’ve been doing these posts for several years now, and they’re all interesting.

As an experienced developer, that’s also how I use it. What I’m finding is that it generally rabbit holes as I give it new errors that it’s previous fix has produced.

However, usually after three or four of those kind of fixes, I can walk it back to the starting point before the initial error, and I now know how to prompt it to produce correct code, because I now have a better mental model of how the thing is supposed to work.

This has been super helpful in my process of learning new things, as well as relearning things I haven’t worked with in a while.

Having recently driven through downtown Toronto at rush hour for an in person office visit, I could see how an hour would be easy to rack up, because I’ve done it. One day at the end of the workday, it took me 20 minutes to get from my parking garage, around a single city block, and to the highway on ramp. Never again.

> All French citizens are required to have health insurance, and there are three main health insurance funds. The funds are non-profit and negotiate with the state on healthcare funding.

> Does Germany have free public healthcare? Yes, all Germans and legal residents of Germany are entitled to free “medically necessary” public healthcare, which is funded by social security contributions. However, citizens must still have either state or private health insurance, covering at least hospital and outpatient medical treatment and pregnancy.

Depends on criticality. Yes, the US beats Canada for example on wait time in a lot of cases, however, as a Canadian I can walk into a ER and not have a co-pay.

I had my appendix out a few years ago, I walked into the ER at 2PM, had the surgery done by midnight, and was able to be discharged by 9AM the next day. The only cost was my parking, because I drove myself over. Meanwhile, I've also had friends in the US who were clearly quite ill, and made the conscious decision to not go to the ER because it would have cost them hundreds of dollars.

It's all a balance, but I'm happier with my single pay system, because for the most part, health decisions aren't at the whim of my bank balance being too low. I personally wouldn't be as disappointed in the US system, if the reason someone can get a surgery immediately didn't balance out with something like UnitedHealthcare's 32% rejection rate, because someone wanted a $10MM / yr salary or a $40MM yacht.

The “easy” solution is to try and remove profit as much as possible from the equation. Pretty much every other high GDP country in the world has single payer healthcare.

Guess how many people get told their anaesthesia won’t be covered for their full surgery. That shouldn’t even be a question, and yet the US system makes it one.

I spent $27k to try and run an event, which was an interesting experience. I hope y'all can learn something from this, and maybe have better odds of succeeding where I failed!

> did you mean off from the title, or the surveyor's work

The data from GeoNB was way off from what the surveyor properly located.

> wondering if that event you were planning for was music related

There may be a band, but I just happened to have an old mic stand handy for that temporary test :D

And on top of the fact that a lot of boundaries outside the city have been low resolution for a long time (land grants may have been from like.. 1902 for some farmer with 400 acres, and then just parceled over time with no further survey). The fact that I shifted everyone 140' by pinning my one line shows how it can be, and I'd bet there are areas that are worse because they're less developed / further out / nobody cared to ask).
