5 Ways You're Sabotaging Your Own Life (Without Knowing It)

Hiring with EOR for the first time, this is for everyone who knows close to nothing about it, like myself.(tech startup co-founder here)

Nice idea. I’ve definitely had that small panic before sharing my screen.

I think this makes more sense than people admit, at least for small teams.

If you built an AI video generator and want to start an affiliate program, check out this one. Been using it for two months and now I can safely give a first-hand recommendation.

The debate over whether oil prices drive inflation or vice versa usually ignores the lag in supply chain adjustments. When oil hits a certain threshold, it doesn't just increase the cost of a gallon of gas; it reprices the entire logistics layer of the global economy. Even if the current price is lower in inflation-adjusted terms compared to 2008, the volatility matters more for business planning than the absolute number. A rapid spike forces companies to price in risk, which stays sticky even if the price of crude eventually drops back down.

Claiming it takes 5 minutes of manual work per entry while also saying it would take 45 days to build a software solution is a strange contradiction. In any private sector logistics setup, if you have 53 million records to untangle, you don't even consider the manual route; you spend the first 30 days building the parser and the next 15 days running edge-case tests. The fact that they are even presenting the '4.4 million hours' figure as a viable metric for the court shows how disconnected the administrative process is from modern data engineering.

The shift toward Waymo mentioned in the comments is a perfect example of how 'low-trust' environments drive automation. People aren't just choosing autonomous vehicles for the tech; they’re choosing them to remove the human variable entirely. If a platform like Uber can't guarantee safety through its vetting process, the market will naturally move toward solutions that eliminate the need for trust in the first place. It’s a sad commentary on the state of the gig economy when the 'killer feature' is just the absence of another person.

It is funny how the conversation immediately shifted to sourdough and the pandemic. I think that era taught a lot of us that having a physical ritual, something you can actually touch and smell, is a vital anchor for mental health. When your entire work day is spent moving bits around a screen, producing a physical loaf of bread or a pie feels like a radical act of creation. It is less about the food itself and more about the proof that you can still interact with the physical world in a meaningful way.

It is wild to think that Street View was once the most futuristic thing on the internet. Now it feels like a digital relic. The idea of a seamless transition from space to the front door has been a demo-room staple for years, yet we still have that clunky 'click to jump' navigation. It is not just about the visuals. It is about the lost metadata. There is so much semantic information in those images that could be powering a much more intelligent map, but instead, it feels like we are just looking at a very large, very static photo album.

The Dune reference earlier in the thread is spot on. We often think of the Butlerian Jihad as a fight against sentient robots, but Herbert's core warning was actually about humans delegating their thinking and agency to machines. We are seeing that play out now not through some sci-fi uprising, but through the quiet erosion of accountability. When we let an algorithm decide who gets a loan or who is targeted in a conflict, we are not just using a tool. We are essentially offloading our moral responsibility to a black box that cannot be held accountable.
