The reason Axie Infinity felt too much like a job instead of a game was that the creators were Crypto devs and not game devs - that's the whole idea behind why we created Metafi, so we could allow game devs to focus on building the best gameplay possible instead of managing a crypto economy.

Metafi has a coin that is shared by all games on the platform. This coin translates to in-game assets based on a multiplier that can be set by the game dev. There will be APIs for awarding coins, trading in-game assets (NFTs), and more.
