I remember when water was privatized in Brisbane, Australia - instantly noticing the jump in my bill. It's clear that privatizing infrastructure like water & electricity doesn't benefit consumers (unless they are somehow investors). I understand that Amsterdam is privatizing water as well. But what can be done about this? Is the only path as consumers is to become ruthless capitalists for our own survival? I wonder where this cycle ends?

Just seeding a comment - the original headline should have read - "Kernel.org compromised". Hoping for a bit of insight into the origin of the rabbit hole of kernal.org.

You'll know my bird when you catch it: "Realized that "reasoning was set to low" on DeepSeek Flash 4.1 - set it to high and life improved immediately."

Strange world we live in, but life just got seriously better. ;-)

This is a multi-session problem, or at least this is how I've solved it in the past (i.e. the user chat/report thread isn't the one driving the conversation, the sub-sessions/workflows are guiding the analysis).

p.s. there's some interesting literature on how in some circumstances (i.e. religious delusions), where actually validating the patient - basically confirming their experience can lead to rapid recovery (however this approach is not found in western culture). I do agree with you in terms of the risks of LLM's driving folks deeper into delusional beliefs & behaviors - it's very real.

Anyone that uses "Claude Fable 5 running in Claude Code"? Can you speculate that plan or cost might have been involved in doing this (given that it seems approximately 5 hours or so of continuous operation for both C++ and Assembly ports, along with the shipping / marketing functions where it's not clear how much compute was used". Thanks in advance (I'm thinking of trying US based models, however I'm penny pinching using DeepSeek Flash etc. ATM).

Hey rosrepa... I want to go down your rabbit hole & collect some titles... would you be kind enough to recommend some easy ones to start with?

Disappointed that it wasn't returning a list of paragraphs from eBooks that semantically match; search only appears to list the publications - not the actual match within the document.

Living in bizarro world of AI. Install open source project, fails, feed into OpenCode w/DeepSeekFlash 4 -> feed error into it get fixed.

The kill_port function only catches ImportError from the psutil block, so when psutil is installed but raises AccessDenied (common on macOS), it crashes instead of falling back to lsof.

In platform_paths.py - add two lines after line 250:

except psutil.Error: pass

Fixed. Now when psutil raises AccessDenied (as happens on macOS without elevated privileges), it falls through to the lsof/fuser fallback instead of crashing. Try docubrowser start again.

Anyone getting a bunch of permission errors when running (e.g. Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Users/tron/Applications/DocuBrowse/venv/lib/python3.9/site-packages/psutil/_psosx.py", line 347, in wrapper return fun(self, args, *kwargs) File "/Users/tron/Applications/DocuBrowse/venv/lib/python3.9/site-packages/psutil/_psosx.py", line 508, in net_connections rawlist = cext.proc_net_connections(self.pid, families, types) PermissionError: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted (originated from proc_pidinfo(PROC_PIDLISTFDS) 1/2)
