We have some good ideas about how mammalian brains get "aligned". How can we train/scaffold LLMs in a way that we can apply the same approach?

The poster is right -- don't write on a whiteboard. Instead, bring your laptop, make the font bigger on your favorite editor, and write in that. I've gone through many interviews like this, and only one interviewer insisted I use the whiteboard. And I'm pretty sure that was largely out of wanting to be fair to other candidates who didn't think to bring and use their laptops.

Since you will presumably be writing code on a computer when working at the company, why not write code on a computer when interviewing with one?

The guy who wrote this post used to be president of Alcor (http://alcor.org), one of the two cryonics organizations in the US. Cryonics is in fact certainly a procedure where people will definitely die if they don't get it, particularly because it can only be done after 'legal death'.

Its efficacy can't be established conclusively right now, but it's certainly more likely you'll be revived if you undergo cryopreservation than if you are cremated or buried underground.

But because of various mostly psychosocial factors, practically nobody gets cryopreserved. I think this is the specific example he was trying to point out.

The official rules say that one of the requirements is that the recipients "Forgo other employment or educational enrollment during the two year Fellowship except as approved by the Thiel Foundation."

Thus, they can go back to school after two years if they really want to.

I'm fairly interested in cognitive science in general, but this was the first time I'd heard of any sort of scientific study of venting your anger.

When I get angry at my computer (which is the only thing I usually get angry at :) I often tend to hit whatever big solid object is nearby. However recently I've tried to switch to going to the gym. It might be even better to just lay down and relax for a while, but I find it a good excuse to get some exercise, and I take a nice relaxing shower after I'm done.

This is the kind of 80-20 knowledge compression that I love seeing on HN and in general. Even if it's not completely new information, it quickly informs me on at least one good view on an important and largely overlooked issue. Now I can at least be well-armed for my google searches, without having to give up a (perceived) large chunk of time in reading a 10 page article or 20 minute TED talk.
