A nice benefit of going minimal with coding agents is that you might find out you don't need to do any hand holding because nowadays models are perfectly capable of reaching out for tools etc and make you happy without any extras required. In my experiece so far less truly is more when talking about agents.
I suppose it truly boils down to personal taste? My take[0] on AI including harnesses.

Here we go, my Gohper server baked by ATproto :

Very much alpha quality, but it's already working relatively well with e.g. lynx
That said, I also feel like betting on readability, maintainablility, taste, etc, being an important aspect of software, at least until code will remain some sort of human readable artifact. We'll still want to be able to understand it and perhaps occasionally add/edit by hand, make sense of it without trusting blindly what any kind of program (LLM based or not) will tell us about it, and so on.
I never had a better time "professionally" (albeit no income yet!) so far in my whole life! Apparently it's truly like the best of times and the worst of times to be building software, if you have the luck and the luxury to be able to work only for yourself than it's really a great time to be alive.
Disclaimer: I already use open weight models only since ~Jan this year and very happy about it.
Good luck with that: https://xkcd.com/1782/
- client/server communication is IRC-over-TLS by default when using modern servers, e.g. Ergo, but afaik also Libera/OFTC/etc support TLS [1]
- Ergo comes with a built-in bouncer, you get all the history according to whatever Ergo has set as retention [2]
- client have now support file uploads too [3]
