I used to run Arch out of engineering school (that's what we used there), and loved it. But as I started working on my business, I started having less time to simply configure my OS and fight it on a few things. The breaking point for me, when I switched to Ubuntu Desktop, was not being able to connect to my two monitors via a dock (2 display ports). It simply took too much of my time to figure out all the nuances of evdi between my Thinkpad and my Dell monitors - Ubuntu just...worked (I could have spent more time understanding the issue, but I just needed it to work) But as I get older and am starting to rethink my tech stack, I'm strongly considering going back to my dear Arch

Interesting read, good to see some nuance in this space for once: not evil, can be used for evil, not good, can be used for good, but requires a lot of safeguards. What really got me is the concept of "Human Reserved" - man that is a depressing thought...

So the attack surface would be a bit flip on a domain name? Or more specifically, a unicode conversion flip, where an attacker could redirect to a malicious IP?

Impressive to have found such a vulnerability!

Indeed. Also, ramp.com is shorter than router.com, so I don't really understand the "spelling out a longer URL on podcasts". I guess router.com is just clearer for customers?

> On Monday, Median Strategies withdrew those results, saying they “should not be treated as genuine polling data.”

In a statement posted to the organization’s website, Median Strategies said the fabricated results were intended to examine “how purported polling information could enter and spread through the political information ecosystem without independent verification.”

Is it common in these Launch HNs to have a "Live on Hacker News" on the website banner. What does that mean? The link doesn't even point to this thread, but only the main page. Perhaps this is common, but I just don't get it

"It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till."

2nd link doesn't work. That would be a neat tool, to find the original article and see how many levels of AI summary it has gone through, a game of AI telephone!

A news aggregator like HN but specifically for freight: https://news.freight.nyc

The idea is mostly to build a community for the sector I work in, since there isn't any (aside from Reddit...)
