No wonder some people think the internet is dead.
The purpose of developing this header audit tool was to answer the question:
"How do you explain the difference between an HTML header and an HTTP header to bored students who would rather watch YouTube videos (or worse) or prepare a salad at their desks during mandatory lectures?"
The answer was to get them involved. Since all students have internet access, everyone can examine a page of their choice, followed by a discussion of the results.
The audit tool is part of a more comprehensive, non-commercial framework called ScrapTrap ( https://www.scraptrap.de ), which was designed according to social informatics principles and primarily serves in practice for bot defense and anti-scraping, but is also conceived as a teaching and research tool.
It also serves to illustrate attacks and their defense (some examples can be found at the bottom of the aforementioned page).
Special care was taken to avoid creating dependencies on:
- Cloud services - Cookies & sessions - JS frameworks
These are fundamentally socio-philosophical questions, but none that actually correspond to reality—because no matter how much one might wish that one's car had consciousness and would be grateful for the next oil change and constant polishing, objectively speaking, it is and remains—despite all epistemological limitations—a machine.
The problem isn't that, but rather that humans are capable of establishing emotional relationships even with inanimate or nonexistent things, and from this kind of relationship arises the desire to attribute more properties to the emotionally attached object than are objectively present.
A rather trivial insight, I think. Constructing a debate about the consciousness of a collection of algorithms from this only confirms it.

To explain briefly:
Broadly speaking, there are these types of schools:
- Hauptschule (lower secondary school) - Realschule (intermediate secondary school) - Gymnasium (grammar school)
in various organizational forms. At a Gymnasium, you can obtain a full Abitur (university entrance qualification), which qualifies you to study at - Universities - Universities of Applied Sciences
For studies at Universities of Applied Sciences, a Fachabitur (subject-specific university entrance qualification) is necessary, which can be obtained in various ways. Previously, diplomas were usually awarded there, an academic degree between a B.A. and M.A. Since the Bologna reforms, the system has been changed to B.A./M.A.
At Universities of Applied Sciences, studies are more practically oriented (with practical phases); however, the biggest difference is that you cannot pursue a doctorate there, which is only possible at a "proper" university.
Besides social informatics, I also teach academic writing, which is why the topic of AI is important to me, because it's not easy for teachers to deal with. But I also don't think the strategy of simply looking away is effective.
This doesn't exactly make one want to spend their next vacation in the USA – even though, admittedly, we have our own problems here.
