Depends on who you're aligned with; Moscow is an option for many as well.

They are also very repetitive. When I started reading it (back in 2015 I think?) I thought that they had some interesting info, but needed a good editor to remove at least 60% of the material; many chapters argued the exact same point as the previous chapter, with a slightly different analogy. Also many are responses to other blogs of the time, which also isn't interesting to read in a book since you don't have any context. Very tiresome to read.

Who's "we"? I'm a software engineer and I sure didn't

The government can’t regulate a black market, but they could stop the charade of illegal drugs, convert the black market into a regular market, and regulate that. Suddenly you get less fentanyl overdoses, better outcomes for addicts (they're not criminals anymore), AND you remove the power of drug cartels (they'll still exist, but will compete with each other through less murder-y means, like any other capitalist company). Plus, stabilize a lot of third world countries where illegal drug production and export is a big part of the economy, which is what allows the cartels to fight and corrupt the state.

Or, just keep doing what they're doing. It's bound to work eventually, right? Drug cartels are definitely growing less powerful every year, the war of drugs is being won, rate of addiction is going down.

I use SumatraPDF for reading, but it doesn't do editing. The Firefox PDF editor works perfectly fine.

I have worked with some "american born engineers" that were some of the least competent people I've ever seen, while getting paid 2x or 3x of some "foreign contractors" on the same team

>Some country has laws that some other country dislikes, therefore they should be able to ignore them?

Yeah, I think that's pretty much the definition of the right of asylum.

I use zed for this (you can use vscode as well), just use the side panel chat, take away write permissions, prompt it with "answer with code in chat" or similar, then you can use it as a personalized StackOverflow for your codebase. Even if it outputs an entire new file, you can take your time and go function by function.

why is it a paradox? guarding their IP overseas has been the modus operandi of American software companies since their inception
