Was the text light grey before you clicked the comments? Typically the link turns from almost black to light grey after you visit the site, just like a normal link will turn from blue to purple after you click the link to indicate you have visited the site. In this post for example the link goes to the 'Tell HN:' so the link goes directly to the comments. Could it be you did not pay attention until you had visited the comments once already??

Got an email that the Jetbrains AI Assistant is eventually going away and will be replaced by Air in all Jetbrain's IDEs. Used Junie with a few different LLM providers and seemed to work OK (had $40 free credits). Seems Junie `Lite` will be free for awhile not sure what that means exactly.

Anyone have any predictions on how this roll out will be received? Use AI Assist chat window with Codex for quick fixes so interested to see how AIR is integrated into the IDE out.

I hope not Chat is still all you can eat and Work uses Codex tokens. I can see why they would want people to think they wanted this without thinking about how it currently works. If Chat starts eating tokens then there is not much reason to use Chat other than most people don't live in the command line like developers. Claude Chat / Cowork already eats tokens either way so not much of a change really. I have never used Work since if I want access to local files the CLI is a much better interface combined with an IDE, but can see the appeal to non-developers.

If you are already using Volta in your project Codex will use the correct version assuming you are running in the same directory as your .json file and the json file has the” volta”:{ “node”: “xx.x.x”, “npm”: “xx.x.x”} configured. Personally use a Dockerfile to setup the container with volta installed. Need to set up Volta and configure at least one version of Node then install Codex in the docker. One caveat is you need to update codex with the initial version of node assuming it’s not the same as your project. If you are using one image per project you should never run into this but I have been using one image and firing up a container for each project, so it was great to see Codex able to use the correct version configured for the project via Volta.

From other comments sounds like Codex using mise for internal tools can cause issues but not sure that is 100% Codex fault if the project is not already defining the node/npm version in the json “engines” entry. If it’s ignoring that entry then I guess this is a valid complaint, but not sure how Codex is supposed to guess which version of tools to use for different projects.

Would you mind adding more details as to the exact setup where Codex is using the wrong version?

At the big box stores absolutely they have it worked in to the prices. I have no idea if the local mom and pop shops are working that 2-4% into their prices or not.

You do realize that 2-4% is not left on the 'table' its taken from the merchant you are shopping at. If you are at a big box store sure but when going to local merchants its best for them if you use debit or cash. One could argue the merchant 'choose' to accept CC but in this day and age its more like extortion because the CC lobbyist were able to make it illegal to pass that charge onto the customer.
