The article fails to mention by how much the distance to the moon varies.

Max=407.000 km

Min=363.000 km

I did expect the Activity Stream to show the history in some sort of tree view, where if you go back while browsing, and then hit another link on a previous page, this will be shown as a branch.

Or did I miss something?

Thanks for the more sane perspective on this.

I was like "wtf" when I read this article. As a Swedish citizen, the article got me a bit worried.

Quora's "real name policy" is just moronic.

The thing is that Quora doesn't care at all if the name is real or not. What is important for them is that the name looks real.

They think this policy (where people are making up fake but plausible names) makes the site seem more credible...

And this is what they now have accomplished, a site populated by millions of subscribers with plausible but fake names.

It also means that you are less likely to tell if a poster is using a pseudonym or their real name.

I think it is perfectly ok to use pseudonyms in this type of communities. And allowing pseudonyms does NOT result in more spam or trolling since a fake name is as easy to create.

When I use a pseudonym I very much would like to be able to signal to other users the fact that it is a pseudonym, easiest done by purposely using an id that is obviously NOT a real name. That is just sensible courtesy to other users, and what you would expect from other users.

But Quora have chosen to force people to instead use fake names.

Maybe the point is that you do not need to store the database securely, that you can store it openly, as long as the certificate used to generate the passwords is kept secret.

But you probably want to keep the meta info of what sites you have access to secret to.

So I don't know why this is better than simply use the certificate to encrypt the database.

But maybe I did not understand how it works.

What do you mean?

This solution does not store passwords at all, if I understand it correctly.

So whining about storing them on "someone else disk" is a bit odd, don't you think?

Seems like a really cool idea, as long as the password generator can be proved to be hard enough to break.

How long does the retrieval of a password take? Sub-second? 10 seconds?

Ok, cool that you can access it anywhere.

How does this compare to the KeePass family of pw-managers? (Besides that Forgiva is closed source and KeePass is open source.)

Fixes poor passwords, accessibility and storage problems with highly secure way.

What does that even mean?

So what he is saying is that we don't know what the damages are, and that we know that the revelations did a lot of good, and then says that the damages are huge.

Ok then.

Sweden here:

We always have the election on a Sunday to maximize number of voters.

Also, voting can of course be posted ahead, and voting can be delegated to an ombudsman if you are unable to attend physically at a voting station.

We don't allow voting through any electronic devices, nor voting over the internet.

All votes are placed using anonymous envelopes. This way no one can trace who you vote for, while still securing that only one vote are placed per person (by authentication at entry at voting station, and manually checked of in a list). All vote counting is manual.

And we don't have a requirement for registration for voters. Voters are registered automatically, based on if you are allowed to vote (citizenship etc) or not.

I would not call a country a democracy if they don't make it easy for everyone to participate in the election. Having the voting take place when most people are working, or require them to register ahead for voting is not how a democracy works.

Feedback: After clicking the link, editing the url to find the real site, clicking everything, I still don't know what this is besides something that has to do with music and collaboration.

Suggestion: let a friend (or a professional tester) try out your site and listen carefully to their comments, before you go boosting, and frustrate a lot of people that probably will not bother again.

A serious tester would probably have told you that you are missing info on the site.
