To Withings defense: At least to my experience they have the most open API going on: https://developer.withings.com/

Other players in the field like Garmin are super restricted.

For my own use case i swapped to Health Connect (Android) though. Whatever might happen with that.

Of course i am also appalled about this change and also the pretty much non-response from the customer service in the forum about this, no good arguments have been mentioned.

Of course they lose revenue. your view is like any other. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cost_per_impression) you won't be taking money from the company, which started the ad campaign. also: don't underestimate the effects on brand value, which will come subconsciously, if you look at ads. You will know certain companies are still active etc. This is why you don't necessarily need to be targeted. simply informed.

The "sometimes" you talk about should just be with ads on. it won't hurt much, because it's just sometimes.

This should be fixed by the browser. If mouse is hold-clicked on scrollbar and the height of the document changes. the position of the mouse should change as well. What's the problem with that?
