For me, this does nothing. I am attracted to film and gaming for the artistry and deliberate choices made by the authors. A synthetic approach may be stimulating but I find it ultimately void.

Tesla could have been so much more with an adult at the helm.

We did. Brian Herbert’s expansion of his father’s work is best left in the shelf.

How did you enjoy the book? I did like her nuclear war volume, but it could have used some editing.

Of course not. Most likely this administration unilaterally decides to rename the rest of the Americas to something nonsensical.

Unfortunately our oil-first administration in the US will find any number of reasons to impede solar progress. That we don’t have a robust national program to incentivize rooftop solar is absurd.

I didn’t blame the administration for starting Pre-Check: I’m faulting them for not ending it, instead adding another feature to it. The new gate access is free - for TSA Pre-Check enrollees. Meaning this will increase demand for the service. They could have done the population a (rare) solid and found a way to phase out the security theater.

Instead of rolling back the ineffective and draconian security measures to pre-2001, they simply decided to monetize it. That tracks for this administration.

I wish nothing but success to Tarn and Zach, it’s great that releasing on Steam and adding a friendlier UI helped the game reach new audiences. It’s the proverbial time black hole.

I remember in 2006 when online sports gambling was banned, and witnessed first hand some sleaze bags flee to Costa Rica where many of the actual operations were located. What I witnessed regarding addiction and exploitation put me off sports for a long time. Now here we are, with the tech industry and political capital behind it, this time engineered to engulf the entire population. It's repulsive.

> I do not see AI taking jobs, I see it more as everyone got a great secretary/junior to offload 'busy' work onto.

I’m afraid that your perspective is flawed. There are many jobs whose output can’t be enhanced by offloading certain tasks to improve productivity - the output itself is replaced by AI.

For instance, a family member who is a successful freelance illustrator and whose field has dramatically shrank with the introduction of image generation. They don’t need a secretary, they need clients. The same clients that now are happy to replace 50%-80% of their demand with AI-generated imagery.

Timely, just this morning I took an interest in Obsidian and the immediate query about it being open source returned a disappointing “no”. So count me in to try this one.

Becoming aware of typography practices will drive you insane. The world is full of atrocities. Live in bliss. But still buy the calculator :)
