You're right.

Hopefully, this genie will grant us a few wishes

I don't think that's the argument. In my opinion this is like paying to unlock characters, à la EA. Who's going to feel a sense of accomplishment by just trying to interpret what an LLM spat out? Sure, maybe the results will be used by someone in some field, the same way a product manager uses what the development team developed. Is the PM going to give talks about it? Are they going to expand on those developments and come up with something new?

> You explained the concepts of what makes a good team, but no matter how much I probed, I couldn’t get anything concrete from you about how to actually build a team.

Did YOU ever get feedback? This is not a good interview. Why didn't you just ask the question? Can it be that you don't know how to interview, or was is just so you could get on your high horse and say "you didn't read my mind, so you're a bad fit"? And it seems a pattern in your feedback: you seem to wait for YOUR time to shine as a "benevolent feedback giver" instead of asking the questions when it makes sense, and you can get an immediate answer.

> sideloading

That newspeak term should just disappeared. It only contributes to the image that downloading and installing an app is something that is outside the "happy path". Installing software of your choice on a device you own shouldn't be demonised

It's not exactly the same: when in hover over a link, I want to know where it's taking me. I want to know if the URL is pointing to a safe domain.

Google being the cesspool it is, can serve whichever (ad laden) domain that fits their own interests the best.

This is yet another move to remove power from the users.

Pi-hole let's you define different groups with different ad blocking policies. Then you can define which dhcp ips go in each group. Works very well. The "normies" won't even notice

Here's a wild idea: about the CEO and shareholders being properly taxed, instead? Every job being replaced by AI is with the purpose of making more money for the CEO and shareholders, right? So, tax them more. It would solve SO MANY issues

It's all coming together: Even if an open protocol was developed and published, and everyone would just use AI to create their own app in order to be private, Google is shutting down that path by preventing "unsanctioned" apps from being installed (not to mention Apple, which already does it).

People wouldn't be arrested for writing code, but as it happened in Spain, people with Pixels and GrapheneOS are already treated as drug dealers

> As I said in another comment, speaking for myself, I don’t like that he made this donation and I know this view is shared by many of my colleagues.

Maybe there's a case to distance Mullvad from him, then. Not taking a stand is also a political choice.

Maybe not in absolute terms. But if there is no access to the actual SOTA models, it's as if they don't exist.

It goes to show that privacy is not a priority. And it should be.

> it saves me 2k a month in taxes. There are also workarounds in avoiding paying the higher EU taxes.

Interesting how in a different comment you say

> I want the same for all Spaniards and will gladly pay high taxes if my family, friends, and my neighbors can also have that same opportunity.

They literally bombed a school full of girls.

It's irrelevant whether AI "makes any mistakes" or not, there are no morals either way, and people just seem to be desensitised to all of this
