A shame that they can and do so here but happily facilitate transfers or scam victims, human trafficking and sexual abuse including of minors.

Just that Z was on the market before 3 was, right?

So the sort by atomic number?

Barium > Argon > Carbon

Why is carbon then more capable?

It’s like an investment banking/consultant career plan: make money with anything, leave before anyone knows if it’s any good. I have inherited my share of such things, partially shipped and/or deployed. Making career-models perform to even the most minimal quality standard is just insane. Often even the most basic fundamentals are missing and if you have a portfolio of these they naturally all work differently.

I am happy to hear high quality evaluations are out of fashion. That will make the competition so much less hard in the EU where evaluation is a regulatory requirement.

On the other hand, it’s kind of expected that the hard part of the job in AI/ML engineering gets neglected over that part people can brag on social media about. Deeply concerning but sadly understandable.

Seems some AI they did invent: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49243397

By your measure anyone unable to build EUV lithography machines without ASML help is doomed. EU could easily corner the market and shut them all off. No more NVIDIA.

Let’s grow the pie, shall we?!

Where to start?

Proud EU citizen here, but boy/gale/other, I have plenty to make fun of ;-)

Clearly the culprit is the person missing supervisor duties. However, AI, or rather how we use AI may well have contributed to the disaster.

Lack of oversight, over reliance and insufficient critical review lead to poor outcomes in any decision making process. Problem is, with AI more people ill-prepared for decision-making make decisions.

I am convinced that this is precisely how AI will cause more and more harm and much earlier than we can imagine.

Clearly well-defined must live in a probability bracket. Only humans demand exactitude.

Calls from law enforcement is laud and clear: BigTech is not doing enough to fight fraud, war and other crimes, they make money from criminals.

Nobody’s yet cared enough to sue them, or their managers at ICC yet. However, eventually an ambitious lawyer will try to make the case, especially if fraud and human trafficking continues to grow like it is.

Hope they don’t rationalize that minimizing paper clips of others is easier and thus do that instead… A more carful person might be scared to even write this on the internet these days, not knowing if it would be the final pin to civilization.

It seems like the author is pitching topological teams and responsible engineer concepts, sprinkled with decision governance.

None of that is really new, but it’s the chaos of silos, narrow decision frames and lack of detailed understanding by decision makers which probably accentuates the adoption of new concepts.

Maybe Musk was right about OpenAI after all?! The ethics are clearly troubling and where something like this pops up there is mich worse that did not made the light of day.

The one time I got to ask Bill a question was probably why Windows didn’t have a “make world” that just works like in FreeBSD. I wonder if he remembered that question during his ordeal.
