If the company behind USDT can block founds, they will be subject to the law and requested to comply.

How is that a middle ground? It’s entirely centralized.

Still waiting for Mistral to serve DS 4.1 with decent caching price.

OP does not understand where the bottleneck is. It is not in contributors pushing NEW packages, but in the reviewers' time.

They can stop, it does not matter, there will be others ready to contribute.

It is a ruthless reality but you have to preserve the most precious resource in FOSS which currently is maintainers.

I'm sympatic to open3dlab but I think the focus on adult-content is just trying to spark outcry for cheap.

It has been shown times and times against that removing adult content from the training source (at least for diffusion models), results in generally lower-quality output, even outside of adult-content, particularly in terms of representing human bodies.

The paper seems stuck with the long debunked idea that all market actors are rational and centred on economic values, but that is utterly incorrect.

Similarly it states value comes from either work or land, but value can also be created out of thin air. It is called branding.

Especially for France and its luxury industry. You take two identical handbag, one is from LV, the other an unknown brand, one will cost 1,500$, the other 150$.

Reminds me of CubeWorld, if my memory serves me. And that’s a compliment!

Yes but if you don’t have any assets in the country you could not liable, that was OP’s point.

But even being based in Switzerland I believe there’s some inter-countries agreements, so it would not be practical.

> In a free society we should be able to both purchase and publish e-books about Tiananmen Square

What? You can definitely publish about it in a free society, and cash anonymity has nothing to do with it.

> I wouldn't waste my time fighting the burrow checker just so I can have a prettier program.

I understand your argument as "it's easier to botch an implementation in C++ than in Rust", which is true and that is actually an argument in favour of Rust.

I strongly believe it is harder to write a C++ implementation that is sound and does not rely on UB.

> when malloc() is used in a loop

But nobody should do that, you allocate upfront.

I not so versed into that debate so will gladly take input, but seeing how the “stop the world” issue seem to be for games for example, I’m cautious.

Ocaml has a GC though, no? That makes it improper for system programming.

I don't think rust is the future anymore, despite having contributed to its compiler few times and been quite involved for years. It has spread too much and that impact compiles time too much.

I think a newer language, having the boreness of go, the compile speed and maybe comp time of zig and safety of rust will emerge, maybe with lisp syntax.
