Why?

Scale is a big part of it.

Every minute, 500 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube.

Even Google can't afford to run the biggest baddest model on every single one of those hours.

So sick and tired of AI websites

> If so many of them are leveraging AI perhaps the better move is to find ways to align that usage with learning

Should the course be updated to better leverage AI? Sure.

But as a student, if you're explicitly instructed not to use AI for a particular course/assignment and you do it anyway, that's academic dishonesty. No matter how much you disagree with the principle of the thing, you still lied and cheated.

Is this a joke? “Jev-like” properties? People have been using LLMs as classifiers or rankers in a similar way for ages. I feel like we’re losing our minds

A lot of people just read the title and not the article

No, they'd probably have to hack the internal system of the company running them

It might still be useful for classification usecases

My eyes glazed over the AI slop that is this article. What are you even trying to say?

Is there any actual evidence that they did?

I’m so sick and tired of AI slop.

I spend all day at my desk talking to LLMs for work.

Then I come on here to escape a little and see what people are working on, and it’s just more LLM text.

Good for you that you built a game engine or a game or whatever this post was about (my eyes glazed over), but come on. Stop wasting our time.

You need a static IP address for this to work is the downside, and depending on where you live and who your provider it it can be difficult and/or expensive.

Yes: cost, speed, and reliability.

But all of those things are improving at shocking speeds, so I think we’re on a path where code is losing value quickly.

The letter is more about privacy, not freedom.

They're arguing X is a massive privacy risk and should not get any exemptions.

It's not about being pointless, it's just plain wrong.

The median (not average) household income in the US is 80K USD. p25 is 40K. p10 is 20K. They're struggling, sure.

But I wouldn't call that abject poverty.
