vz limits how much you can control the guest memory(doesnt expose a way to do free-page-reporting), has pretty terrible dis/virtiofs performance, and i've had issue with high host cpu usage. that said, iirc colima can switch to a krunkit backend so it can avoid most of these. ymmv but on benchmarks vz was 2-5x worse on a bunch of different ops

even better with vms that are built on hvf directly like smolvm or microsandbox. much lighter, and more elastic.

Congrats on the launch! Can you speak on how you are able to keep the cost really low?

even better, run it locally and automatically update your github checks.

Right, but I'm not sure that was because they were subsidizing it, or because they ran into capacity issues and needed to offload some users.

+1 on smolvm! I provision a smolvm per job in preloop, a local/self-hosted github actions( https://github.com/preloopdev/preloop). iirc there was also some work to add a deny-cidr option as well which would give you more flexibility. But the egress filter captures most of what you need so it works great nonetheless.

iirc there was a sectionin Qwen’s paper where they talked anout how they post-trained flash or 3.8 to work just as well regardless of the harness or eval used. I think that used to be true but not sure if it is any longer

Precisely this.

I have no clue why you are mentioning OPT. Almost no one uses it during their school years because it makes no sense to and reduces your post-grad time. That’s what CPT is for. They’re requiring programs to have mandatory internships which most dont and probably wont require it. You obviously have to be enrolled to get CPT, you just cant use it to work full-time during the school terms.

I didn’t mention anything about OPT? It effectively makes it near impossible because most programs dont require an internship. And I’m definitely familiar with the process
