The authors touch on potential wider implications in the abstract:

> These results suggest that APAP should be used with caution by women attempting to conceive. Given that cell division is fundamental to all development, further investigation is now warranted to substantiate these findings and to elucidate possible implications for other developmental processes, such as gonadal and brain differentiation.

With modern emissions standards, more than 50% of the harmful pollution comes from tires/brakes/road surface wear/resuspended dust:

Moving away from privately owned cars entirely seems to be the only way to eliminate the health impact of cars on people in a city.

Did you know that in most of the US it's illegal to build anything other than car-dependent single family suburbs? For many top US cities over 70% of the land is zoned _exclusively for car-dependent detached single family homes_.

Many urbanists simply want walkable neighborhoods to be _literally legal to build_ so that they can live and raise families without as much risk from cars, which are in a race to the bottom with guns as the number one killer of kids in the US. The bar almost could not be lower.

Edit:

You may also not be aware that your detached single family neighborhood is, on average, financially insolvent and can only survive with subsidies from continued sprawl or from denser inner cities.

You imply that people have the freedom to not move to the suburbs if they don't like them because "this is America", but don't seem to be aware that there is decades of policy at every level restricting people from doing exactly that.

I'm such a big fan of the Pixel experience that I've been letting myself rationalize my plan to stick with it by planning to preorder (tomorrow) the new Pixel Watch.

I tell myself that surely _one_ of my Pixel devices would be able to make an emergency call at any given time...

Recently I tried out both an iPhone and a Galaxy and failed to make the adjustment to either one within their respective return windows.

Tomorrow is the launch of the Pixel 7 series and another report has popped up on Reddit about a Pixel 6 failing to connect on an emergency call.

There have been multiple reports of this issue this year, long after the issue caused by Microsoft Teams (and other similar apps) was patched in January, but as far as I've been able to find Google has not even acknowledged the issue publicly.

As a long time a Pixel user who is planning to get a 7 and the new Pixel Watch, I really hope someone from Google sees this and the company can at least acknowledge it.

Cool - I'm glad someone else here did :)

Sad but not surprised about the negativity from some comments here.

So many complaints about monetization and pointing out how it's not a perfect just-like-the-movies lightsaber.

I enjoyed the video and thought it was awesome. With just a pinch of imagination I really was amazed at how close this is to my childhood fantasies.

Why would I expect content creators to work for free? And frankly I just can't believe the comments which come across as offended that it is a gas torch and not some magical new technology that has all the properties of movie lightsabers.

Then again, putting down others to make yourself feel better is a tale as old as time.

My side project over the last few years was more or less the deciding factor in me getting hired at my current employer and my previous one.

Being able to demonstrate turning an idea into reality and talk about technical (and design) problems I encountered and how I solved them seemed to be much more interesting to interviewers than most of what I had done at my previous day jobs.
