Too many edge cases, some would still be exploitable. Eg if the real address was:

    Sheriff.CI.Jacksonville.FL.US

Malicious actors could register:

    Sheriff.Jacksonville.FL.US

Unless your solution is to add some verification step as part of .us registrations.
