That sounds overly dramatic. 1. this only concerns regex 2. there’s an alternative regex syntax doing the same thing as part of the ecma standard 3. it can be implemented very easily without regex in almost all cases 3. It seems like you’re only considering chrome for desktop, not other browsers or mobile
