This is true, but I don't want to go into research academia. If I could do whatever I wanted, I would want to teach at a college level.

This is what I'm most afraid of. I am not exactly dumb, but I really value having a work-life balance and many of my PhD peers are utterly cracked in ways I am not. I am concerned this will squeeze me out of a job.

I definitely have no dreams of doing research. If I could do anything, I would want to teach, but if that can't happen, I am worried that my skills won't be valuable in industry.

I'm a PhD student in CS. While I think these results are rather cool, it makes me terrified that the skills developed by the PhD will ultimately be worthless. I'm not quite sure what to do. Any thoughts from people in similar positions?

The way that this is marketed at children is nothing short of evil.

I honestly have no idea how I feel about the capabilities of these models. The other day I asked Fable to write a fairly simple class that I had very well scoped in my mind. In my head, there was a very clear and obvious way to write it. So I only loosely described what the class should be, but not the details of the implementation assuming Claude would figure it out. And it's result was... so bad. Like laughably over-complicated. With a bit more back and forth I was able to cut hundreds of lines of code down to less than 100. On the one hand, Fable certainly made writing good code faster, on the other hand, I cannot imagine how much unchecked garbage is being dumped into every industrial codebase ~~maybe that was always the case, but that's neither here nor there~~

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I feel very averse to consuming AI media, but it's not super obvious to me why. In some sense, I agree with what you're saying, but in reality no pixel art of a city I've never been to would elicit that feeling in me. Maybe I would feel differently if it were art of the city I live in and had some pixels dedicated to specific things I think are cool about the city, but for this website in particular it could be the best pixel art of SF ever made and I don't think it would be all that meaningful to me.

The main conclusion I've come to is that it's less that I dislike AI art inherently, and rather that I value the human decisions in media that I personally care about, and AI media threatens both its creation and how much other people value such things.

There's a lot of AI on the author's github, so I would assume so. I have no idea how I feel about these sorts of things. On the one hand I think it's objectively a super neat idea, but it makes me sad that a human (probably) didn't make the art/songs.

If you wanted to implement this in real life, who plays the role of Alice?

> Blake embodies the “bits to atoms” shift underway in America. Before founding Boom, he was designing internet coupons for Groupon.

What is this? I can't find easily the meaning of "bits to atoms." Is this meaning that US is going away from digital "exports"?

Ok I guess I could have told you that. What I really meant is that in the future where LLMs are doing new math (which I'm skeptical of, but I digress) I would not trust any of it unless it was formally verified.

It's cool, but I genuinely cannot fathom why they are targeting natural language proofs instead of a proof assistant.

Does anyone have a similar article with more detail? I don't quite want to read the datasheet of your favorite microprocessor, but I would like a decent amount more detail than what's provided. Especially before UEFI/BIOS.

Rice's theorem is about decidability, not difficulty. But you are right that assuming P != NP there is no algorithm for efficient SAT (and other constraint) solving.
