Very few, unless this geek is a CTO, which is very unlikely.

1 mil seems like an arbitrary or at least rounded number, and also it's not like you could get one on the market, so maybe it actually didn't cost a million

Re house - the reason why people (not just kids) will draw the same symbolically looking house is due to the question itself: they want you to recognize the house in what they've drawn. No one wants to fail, everyone wants to please, and it's the same with llms.

If instead you ask to draw some fancy interestingly looking house you'll get more variety - now the task is not to have the question giver recognize the house in their drawing, but to show how they imagine fancy or interesting house.

This is exactly the reason why fable is blocked at the company I work at.

> the number of Europeans and (North) Americans that die each year from heat waves is already larger than the total number of Americans that die from guns.

This doesn't mean much on its own. People have to die from something eventually, if someone is living a longer life due to not dying for other reasons, they get older and are more susceptible to heat.

They'll likely have more time with the family because walking and being outside leads to a longer healthier life.

they explicitly called for that in the prompt

I was creating a Jira/bb wrapper with node recently and Claude actually used plenty of libraries to solve some tasks.

why copy anything at all? you just need to preserve the head and that's it. As simple as `git branch bkp` and that's all.

Well that's a distinction which makes sense in theory but is not realistic in practice for most projects with multiple contributors.

When your PR build takes more than an hour you'll think twice before creating multiple PRs for multiple related commits (e.g. refactoring+feature) when working on a single issue.

This is just attention seeking, hard to imagine that after having worked there their best contact is a random person on HN.

I relate to that and I think the real reason some people struggle to believe that is because not everyone has a great work environment at work. I have one, I actually look forward to coming to the office sometimes.

I don't think you know what you're talking about, or you are omitting western Europe. In Germany/Austria most workers are on collective bargaining agreements (different and specific for each industry, incl IT) which is regulated by unions plus org-specific councils (Betriebsräte in AT/DE, similar in other countries). Similar for Switzerland, also Collective labour agreements in Netherlands. Seems to be similar in Spain and France but these I didn't have experience with. So yeah, your comment is at least misleading or ignorant and bullshit at most
