yeah i love this comparison- that's why i avoid places that are clearly sysco wrappers (or massive chains that are just wrappers around their own supply chain)

basically any food establishment that has "supply chain operation" is slop to me; I guess it's similar to my distaste in reading AI slop too

I don't fault ppl for going (and enjoying) those too- Chili's can be enjoyable after a few beers

yes yes definitely, restaurants should not be microwaving food for paying customers (ok if some components are) but like... not serve a completely microwaved dish

happened to me once lol, will never forget that place ever again (blech)

> As more people delegate writing to LLMs they will also delegate thinking and comprehension to LLMs. I don't want to do that, where's the fun of writing then?

I enjoy cooking from scratch, and I really don't like frozen foods, microwave/TV dinners, or even DoorDashing

but we're past complaining/arguing/shaming folks who don't cook every meal from scratch

you know what, I don't prefer eating it, but if my next door neighbor loves microwaving frozen $3 burritos, then go ahead

to some people, food is art, creativity, life to others, food is fuel

also applies to writing and thinking

nah you dont always have the luxury of meal prep (or planning/grocery store runs) when you have a newborn - besides this takes up so much time and energy

interesting they're going back to the fixed-seat bench design of the 40's-60's kind of car design - didn't know these were allowed anymore

also wonder how comfy that is? i kind of welcome it tho!

use it to classify a bunch of research papers (by feeding it section by section, or summaries of sections if too long)

riding horses is many ways way more fun than driving a car (earliest form of self driving!!!); but I'd never consider riding as a real form of transportation

it's fine to keep riding though as long as you're having fun!! but it will definitely get worse and worse as a form of transportation

(this is true for hand coding too)

as long as there are things in and our lives to improve, there are opportunities to build great companies that provide a lot of value

i dont think those exist purely in software anymore- but if you look around at say, the skyrocketing number of elderly and nursing homes (just as an example) there are probably dozens of ways to improve lives and make a good living there

and electronics and hardware has always been so difficult and expensive to get into- but with new infra and workflows and 3d Printing and getting stuff from China- it's vastly cheaper and easier to do a robotics or hardware startup than 20 years ago

there will always be opportunities!
