That's becuase eventually tech is going to eat the world. Everything will be augmented or replaced. Farming, construction, transportation, health, war, labor, all of it will change. So it has to start in tech and then it spreads from there.

The difference is that Britain is not a super power and has not been for a long time. There is only China and the US. All other western nations and many eastern ones are shells of what they once were.

There is a rumor that some employees at Anthropic have started smoking to prove their conviction that ASI will be here soon and that it will fix them.

Only something I have seen online, I cannot vouch for its validity

This is pretty awesome man. I had zero insight into home automation and this really made me want to learn more. Well done

Just upload the pictures to a chatGPT chat and tell it what you want, My wife uses it for this all the time.

My wife designed our pool and our patio this exact way. She spent hours on it and it worked perfectly.

I can look out my window and see the exact scene she made in chatGPT.

Really impressive how useful it has become on some very general things

Fascinating that they just never accounted for that moment. Although I guess it is incredibly out of the ordinary.

Feel free to ignore this question but what have you noticed going about life without your head in the screen? It must be a genuinely different view on things and I would like to get your perspective

"a push to have users download their mobile app" This is the blocker for me, every vendor wants you to download a different mobile app.

I had to on the spot download a mobile app to pay to get my car back from valet parking at a really nice hotel the other day. They only accepted payment via the app which they did not disclose before taking the car. I had to stand there for 10 minutes installing the app and setting it up and I will likely never go back to that hotel (becuase of location, not the app).

No idea what would have happened if I just had an old fashioned flip phone

Gas stations near me already have a cash price and a card price per gallon

The issue with flock is pair it with a competent Ai system and you have full realtime surveilance of every civilian everywhere there are flock cameras. Press a button and you have "Bob Smith's" or very likely "Ex GF of legal figure" complete travel history on demand as well as current location. It's too much power to give a government let alone flawed individual humans

I don't think most people are going to grab lab grown out of the grocer fridge if normal beef is available for the same price. I know I would not. But if its 25% cheaper I'm happy to try it

Agree, as long as it's meat. Lab grown meat from cells is meat. The reason impossible never worked was becuase it wasn't meat. Very few people are going to trade meat for soy and vegetables

And there goes every single rational for having a security team at the disaster bunkers the billionaires are building

I have been thoroughly impressed with 4.8 the last couple weeks at work, they have not given us access to 5 yet.
