I believe DANE addresses this (and other things, which is what makes it complicated).

If the system changes so that browsers only trust national CAs, then the next eMudhra will open a Delaware corporation.

> Why isn't there a mechanism where a domain owner can specify which CA it allows?

CAA records do this, but only for issuance, not for use, so it only protects against eg. unexpected domain validation, because the CA has to respect the CAA record. Extending that to use seems like a logical step to me.

Alexa devices know what room they're in, so if I say "turn off the lights" in the kitchen, the kitchen lights turn off. But if I say "turn off the living room lights" in the kitchen, the living room lights turn off.

(If I have to physically move to a different room to send a voice command about that room I lose a ton of convenience, and the whole point of home automation is convenience!)

I mean .config is a newcomer, it's only been around for 23 years. Dotfiles in the home directory goes back to 1971!

And because of that, they indicate time-in-incident, and not impact time. Status pages don't start the clock when the impact begins, and that might be minutes or hours before the initial status page post that _does_ start the clock.

The funny thing is that one reason that cities, utilities etc. keep posting on Twitter is that it's integrated into their internal systems (or at least to something like Hootsuite that handles multiple social platforms). I'd be very surprised if they're sharing a Twitter password.

Huh. I thought they used to also do sentiment analysis of social media (Twitter, at least). I see that they definitely don't today, but has that always been the case?

> a fifth? a fifth of what?

Fifth (ordinal), not fifth (fraction).

That's why a whole tone is called a "second", not a "half".
