You misunderstand. The software that has full access to disk, and can do anything without you knowing it, is the owner of the machine.

Or, you could invest time in making a tool that can be used effectively without having to understand all the theoretical foundations. What's stopping you?

This Lean stuff is gibberish and I don't understand why somebody thinks it's going to somehow make things better or simpler to understand.

Of all the people on the Earth who were alive on 2001/09/11 a very large percentage have by now died.

You had a closet? Luxury! Our demo ran out of a disused lavatory, and there was a leopard around.

In Berlin you can have same quality haircut for 15 euros, for 25 euros or 50 euros, your choice.

I am not sure what you are driving at. My understanding of double entry bookkeeping is it's simpler and easier than the so called "single entry" bookkeeping which adds a lot of complexity because of all the special cases.

When a law like this comes into effect it should have 3-5 year transition period. It does not matter how long they deliberated, there is time when law goes into effect, and then the countdown to enforcement should start, but it must not be less than 3 years, preferably 5.

It's not the postmortem du jour that we want, the whole pattern is a mystery. Do they push releases every day and bring down the site every day by botched rollouts? What really is it why they can't GH keep the core service running (e.g. pushing commits and pulling changes)?

I think the author is taking umbrage with DHH using the word "gypsies" where it might have been "junkies" or just "homeless".

I see it in Berlin, rise of agressive, smelly begging in U-Bahn (I witnessed a beggar actually attacking passengers, hitting a woman). People walking around having fully shit their pants. This, I presume, is tolerated in the name of individualism, that the individual is free to choose how they present themselves in the public, and walking around with pants fully shat must be some inalienable right.

Area around Kottbusser Tor reeks of urine, and there's junkies fully out of it constantly screaming and fighting. Is somehow pointing this out is shameful and racist?

don't say "apparat" when you can say "device".

side note, when first transistor-based portable radios showed up (as opposed to large lamp-based stationary devices), they were called "transistor". you would take not your portable radio with you, it was your transistor.

I have no doubt those studies are run by some smart fellers.
