Those weren't the reasons. For example, you make it sound like he just used the word "gonads" once, but actually, he had an entire 39-minute presentation with multiple references to testicles.

How will you ever improve if you don't practice?

Respectfully, I find your sentiment baffling. For me, knowing more about something enhances its value.

You mean you have a hypothesis. :) A theory is an entire body of facts and experiments.

I fear that the Democrats will once again fixate on reconciliation and "reaching across the aisle" and "moving forward."

> I suspect the economics and 'shape' of the gaming industry to change over the next few years. Currently we're in this strange place with game dev where a large portion of software engineers (majority?) are using LLMs and AI coding tools, but for some reason the gaming industry (or at least it's customers) are vehemently anti-AI to the point studios have to put out statements about AI usage to assuage the mobs online.

Users hate AI-generated assets, and justifiably so because they're often really terrible, and they take work away from artists. Regarding LLMs, users are far less passionate unless the project has clearly been slopped out as a quick-and-dirty vibecoded app.

Linus doesn't even do much programming by his own admission. He's a release manager.

I can't stand that keyboard shortcuts for menu items are the same color as the disabled menu item color. It's mixing two meanings for the same color in the same UI element. Despite this being the style for years, I still have a split-second interpretation of non-interactivity every time I see it.

The implication being that you're writing in a language so unsafe that you need to pay for AI data centers to periodically double-check it for you. That isn't the argument in favor of C that you think it is.

Yes.

Well, that implies there's some sort of threshold that it's still reaching for and hasn't yet achieved before it can be considered successful. But it's already everywhere now. Hell, not only is it in the Linux kernel, it's even in Windows (!).

That doesn't change the fact it's not well-designed for large projects.

New releases of macOS often drop older hardware, so perhaps pressuring people to be running the latest version incentivizes regular hardware upgrades. Especially considering Apple's push for local AI; new versions of macOS can gate AI features behind newer hardware.

Someone recently pointed out that they play a game to see how long it takes to scroll through HN comments and find one mentioning AI in a non-AI submission. I can't help playing the game too.
