That's exactly what I was trying to achieve. Some people stepped forward and explained one side and some explained the other side. I learnt something which is the point.

Others just downvoted me because they disagreed (which is not what you're supposed to do, afaik).

I don't even want to engage anymore as others just think I want a billion people to die to save some 'bad' mosquitos, which is obviously a ridiculous statement.

I am merely suggesting we don't really understand the consequences and things may not be as simplistic that everyone thinks. i.e. kill "bad guy" mosquitos, save a billion people.

We start spraying crops so we can end world hunger (or just make more money) and screwing around with other things and now we're killing bees and other things. This will ultimately come to haunt us.

The death of all bees would count as infinitely bad (in terms of crop pollination) and we're doing a very good job in making that happen.

I was suggesting that it's rarely that simple.

If we lose those frogs, it most likely would cause a cascade across other species. There are lots of things that eat frogs.

Isn't there a knock on effect of removing them?

Does anything eat them as food? Wouldn't it be environmentally damaging to remove a source of food for X?

I don't see it. May I be the first to tempt you of the delights of firefox and ublock-origin. :)

It might be super interesting if you could elaborate on what you're doing differently with Asta. Are you reviewing generated code? Are PRs being reviewed? Are you more of a orchestrator? etc

>Unless there is AI regulation or a coordinated slowdown between labs, human extinction in the next few years seems very likely

Sigh, no explanation of how this would occur (even after multiple questions on that thread).

It's starting to sound like hot air and frankly tiresome. I want data worksheets.

> where the default choice of headphones is Bluetooth.

Unfortunately not giving wired headphones away (with the phone purchase) and not including the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, means that 'normal' people just put their phone calls and play their video on speaker, to the annoyance of everyone (on public transport).

Discussing back and forth whether Tim Burton is still alive is a rabbit hole worth exploring.

Not sure what would be more interesting than that.

I mostly limit myself to 3 pages of HN, till I see a count of 90 as the last article, then I stop.

I don't want this site to be destination for doomscrolling.
