I really don't like how EUDI (OpenID4VP) works in the first place. IMO it should be scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up

It should be an open standard that's local first. Government issues certificate, user loads it into any supported client app on any platform (official, open-source, Google/Apple Wallet, etc). The user should then be able to selectively share data from the certificate with third-parties, directly between the client-app and the third-party, using an open standardized protocol/format. The important challenge is that we obviously shouldn't have to share the entire certificate (which would include all data in it), there shouldn't be a static subject pubkey which creates linkability between data-shares, and obviously we'd need privacy-focused data fields like {"isover18": true} in addition to full DoB.

EU regulation is not the problem, it's the national governments. They are the ones who create red tape and high taxation almost every step of the way, and create years of delays when even one crazy person complains.

Of course I have my political opinions and world views, but I absolutely do not want an LLM to mirror my opinions, or even worse try to mirror the opinions of "my political side". I also don't need "an LLMs opinion". I need it to give me all relevant sides to an argument, as well as what dialogue and debates have been happening.

Elon Musk's companies launch rockets, build the most high-tech electric cars, host the world's most relevant social network, deploy high-speed internet to most of the world, build one of the world's leading LLMs, I could go on...

Reid Hoffman runs a social network for spam.

This is so simple to prevent, it's just a matter of prompting. The fact that the bank didn't proactively secure against this makes me glad that I'm not one of their customers.

Don't waste your attention on this pop-culture legal drama. While there does appear to be a legitimate case involving an unfortunate high-risk contract between a victim and a business franchise, anything published by this Reckless Ben character simply cannot be taken seriously. Ben's actions are nothing but targeted harassment, and only result in a weaker legal position for the victim. He consistently, and seemingly intentionally, chooses to misunderstand the law. When his actions have consequences, he goes so far as to sling wild conspiracy theories about corruption involving the police department.

Ben's actual intention is to create drama content for clicks and views. This is also true for secondary sources like 404media, Dexerto, and Kotaku, as well as other YouTube creators like Penguinz0 and Asmongold. Ultimately they're all after $$$. Though not to defend this business either, as it should be obvious that anything involving high-value Lego collecting is similar to NFTs, but even more scummy and degenerate. It's weaponized nostalgia.

It's more evidence that the future is local. With some time we'll all be running highly capable & efficient open-source models on dedicated NPUs. No censorship, no rate limits, no overpriced subscriptions.

I will go ride my horse, and get a bit drunk off some ale at the local pub. You go enjoy your automobile, electricity, and telephony.

Electricity is overhyped anyway. Nikola Tesla is a scammer with his crazy ideas. Not to mention the scam that is Bell's telephony. Electricity is causing a copper shortage for us common folk. This electricity bubble is built only on hype, and will pop soon enough!

By that logic, was the Concorde also a "scam"? Are companies not allowed to try out new things without a guarantee that they will work and scale?

> 8gb of RAM and can barely run a very stripped down version of windows 7

Not sure what you're doing, but Win7 itself uses 1 GB of RAM or less. Even just 2 GB of total system RAM was enough for basic usage, like document editing and single-tab web browsing.

What you need is the Stories feature in Signal, then donate that $49.99/month (or however much you want) to their foundation.

Well, that's where digital goods differ from physical goods. But it's also why piracy != theft.

Once more: Piracy is almost always a service problem, not a pricing problem.

If there was an online e-book store where you could buy most books as DRM-free epub files, and you could read the first X pages for free, I guarantee you that nobody here would care about the OP article. It would have maybe 4 or 5 upvotes.

Yes because over in the rest of the world (or "the country of Europe" to be exact), we all have "socialized healthcare" where we pillage the wealthy and just spend shitloads of tax money on it. That would go very great, and is not a flawed idea whatsoever. /s
